The Cobra Sports Captains have newly formed a sports council focused on applying student voice to sport-related decisions. The council aims to move beyond simply managing team logistics and individual sports. This involves dedicated efforts to ensure that all sports captains, regardless of the popularity of their sport, feel valued.
All students are encouraged to participate in physical activity. By taking ownership of initiatives, the council demonstrates a commitment to expanding participation and recognising talent across diverse groups. Furthermore, the council will champion sports spirit and recognition, developing various ways to celebrate achievements at every level, cultivating an environment where fair play, respect and teamwork are not just stated values but actively practised principles. This commitment to inclusivity and positive development forms the foundation upon which other council objectives are built.
This council is built up of voices for student-athletes, by student-athletes. We would like to encourage feedback from those engaging in sports to further improve our council throughout the year. Ultimately, the council serves as a vital bridge between students and school administration, supporting personal development both during competition and individual training.
The upcoming focuses of the sports council include supporting the girls football team in recruiting members, sports spirit and recognition and of course, the upcoming ACAMIS Basketball hosted by DC! Meetings will soon commence to focus on these aspects of school sports, ensuring that we are moving towards creating the best environment for talents to flourish.
We’re excited to see you at future home games!
