As summer is approaching, the promise of a much-needed break is coming our way. In 2025, cities worldwide have planned extensive activities catering to a wide range of individuals. Whether you enjoy a peaceful afternoon or an adventurous day, there is something for everyone.
HONG KONG
For those of you who are staying in Hong Kong, you must be thinking that you’ll have nothing to do, but I promise after reading my list of summer events held locally, you’ll definitely change your mind.
Picasso for Asia: A Conversation
Art enthusiasts, you will be pleased to hear that Musée national Picasso-Paris (MnPP), holder of the largest Picasso collection, will be loaning more than 60 of his masterpieces to M+. With around 130 additional art pieces from the M+ Collection of 30 artists, a gallery walk in this sector is not to be missed. According to the 2025 M+ official website, “Major works on view will include The Acrobat (1930), Figures by the Sea (1931), Large Still Life with Pedestal Table (1931), Portrait of Dora Maar (1937), and Massacre in Korea (1951) from the collection of MnPP.”

Hong Kong Food Expo
This event will be the highlight of summer 2025's culinary scene. This annual event features a diverse range of food products, cooking demonstrations, and tasting sessions. Visitors can expect to enjoy a diverse range of local and international cuisines, participate in interactive workshops, and engage with renowned chefs and food experts.
This year's theme focuses on sustainability and health-conscious eating, so whether you're a foodie or a professional, the Hong Kong Food Expo promises an adventure for your taste buds.

SWITZERLAND
Are you headed to Europe this summer? If you are in Switzerland or nearby, the Lake Thun Festival cannot be missed. This year the festival presents Thunerseespiele - The Hunchback of Notre Dame. With this musical being held on an lake stage, if you're a Disney fan, this will truly be a magical experience.
“The musical tells the story of the bell-ringer Quasimodo, who grows up isolated from the rest of the world in the bell tower of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.” (Switzerland Tourism, 2025)

MALAYSIA
Coming back to Asia, what would summer be without a music festival? First organised in 1998, the 28th iteration of the Rainforest World Music Festival promises a wonderful weekend with 184 performers! This 30-day festival celebrates the diversity and inclusivity of music, providing musical workshops, cultural and craft displays, and so much more. Of course, the highlight of the event would be the evening concerts on the main stage, set in an actual rainforest. This world-renowned festival is a must-see!

I'm sure all baseball fans know about the MLB All-Star game. However, if you're interested in watching a thrilling sporting championship game, this is one of the most exciting events of the year. With a chance to meet players, experience local cuisine and participate in interactive exhibits, the days might seem jam-packed, but there’s even more! Along with everything else, the All-Star Game often features performances by various well-known individuals, whether during the pre-game ceremonies or between innings, truly adding a much-needed entertainment factor. Even if you're not a strong baseball fan, I'm sure there's still something for everyone.

AUSTRALIA
Revealing the endless mysteries of nature, the new after-dark experience given by Illuminate Adelaide holds a new event titled ‘Night Visions’, transforming what people see during the day into a world of the unknown. Created with lasers, projects, sounds and various lights, modern technology has allowed possibilities to be endless. As you step into this event, a world of nature, colour, and sounds will be revealed.
